Week 6 Day 1 2010-05-18 40 New Plan: I'm going to stick on Week 6, Day 1, Tier 1 until I can finish it without inserting a balasana break. Workout:25+30+20+15+25(10b)15=130 total; time=8:18
Week 6 Day 1 2010-05-15 50 OK, Week 6 Tier 2 is ridiculously harder than Week 6 Tier 1 was given that I was only able to do 5 more in my exhaustion test. I did stick to the 60 second gaps but had to insert balasana breaks into every set after the first one. I think the plan is gonna change. Workout:40+25(10b)15(10b)10+20(5b)5+15(10b)10+15(10b)15(10b)10(10b)10=190 total; Time=14:15
Week 6 Day 3 2010-05-10 50 I stuck to the 45 second gaps, but I had to insert two balasana breaks into the last set. Again, it took longer than I'd like - even after the 6 minutes of combined rest (not including balasana breaks), it was nearly 6 minutes to do them. Workout:13+13+17+17+16+16+14+14+25(10b)15(10b)10=170 total; Time=11:04; (4.2 seconds per pushup total) Time for an exhaustion test! No way I'll make 100, but hopefully, I'll be into tier 2. Well, kinda hopefully - tier 2 is harder.
Week 6 Day 2 2010-05-06 44 I stuck to the 45 second gaps, but I had to insert two balasana breaks into the last set. I was hoping to just have one break, but I barely made it as it was. Took longer than I'd like - even after the 6 minutes of combined rest (not including balasana breaks), it was 5 minutes to do them. Workout:14+14+15+15+14+14+10+10+24(10b)10(10b)10=150 total; Time=11:04
Week 6 Day 1 2010-05-04 40 Today was OK. I stuck to the 60 second gaps. I had to insert two balasana breaks into the last set. Workout:25+30+20+15+20(10b)10(10b)10=130 total; Time=8:49
Week 6 Day 2 2010-04-08 44 Today went well. I stuck to the 45 second gaps. I did have to insert one balasana break into the last set. Workout:14+14+15+15+14+14+10+10+30(10b)14=150 total; Time=9:37
Week 6 Day 1 2010-04-06 40 Some day, I'd like to actually be able to do the last set straight through without a rest. I was pretty diligent on the time between sets today. I did have to add some 10 breath balasana breaks in the last set. Also, because was curious, I timed how long the full lot took me. Workout:25+30+20+15+15(10b)15(10b)10=130 total; Time=8:48
Week 5 Day 3 2010-03-30 50 The ending was a bit weak. I extended the break between the 6th and 7th set to 2 minutes and the break between the 7th and 8th set to 7 minutes. During the 8th set, I had to insert a 10 breath rests in balasana position. Workout:20+20+24+24+20+20+22+35(10b)15=200 total
Week 5 Day 2 2010-03-23 45 Honestly, better than I expected after being off for 2 weeks. I extended the break between the 7th and 8th set to 3 minutes and during the 8th set, I had to insert a couple of 10 breath rests in balasana position. I tried to keep most of the other breaks down to 45 seconds, but some of them may have stretched 50 seconds to a minute. Workout:19+19+22+22+18+18+22+20(10b)13(10b)12=185 total
Week 5 Day 1 2010-03-08 40 I had to put some breather breaks in most sets (leaving hands in place, sit back on haunches in balasana/child pose and count 10 breaths) and I stretched the between set rest after the 4th set from 45s to 3:30. Workout:36+30(10b)10+15(10b)15+20(10b)4+25(10b)15=170 total
Week 5 Day 3 2010-02-26 45 Didn't go too bad. I had to extend the time between sets for the last few (set 5, 60s, set 6, 90s, set 7, 120s) and for the last set I had to sit back and take several breather breaks (15,10 breath break,10,10 breath break,10,15 breath break,10) Workout: 18+18+20+20+17+17+20+45=175 total
Week 5 Day 2 2010-02-24 40 Today was the first day of the more sets fewer reps thing. I did pretty good through the first 7, but I had to give myself 2 minutes rather than 45 seconds before the 8th set and while doing the 8th set, I had to take a 10 breath rest after the first 20 and another 20 breath rest after the first 30. I also screwed up and flipped the second and third sets. 18+20+18+20+14+14+16+40=160 total
Week 5 Day 1 2010-02-22 35 Not sure if it was the swimming yesterday or what, but today was pretty tough. I finished out third set with 5 knee ups, added a 10 breath break after the first 12 of the fourth set, and added a 10 breath break after the first 15 and the first 25 of the 5th set. I also gave myself 120 seconds between the 4th and 5th sets. It should be interested how the more sets/less rest/less reps goes next session. 28+35+20(+5)+22+35 = 140 proper + 5 knee up = 145 total
Week 4 Day 3 2010-02-19 40 I'm starting to suspect that this is all a sadistic conspiracy. Really, I was supposed to pull of 40 or more pushups after 4 other sets after my last endurance test showed me at a max of 27? Really? Anyway, I ended up seriously gapping out the time between my sets today with 2.5 minutes between mosts sets and pretty much 6 minutes between the 4th and 5h sets. Even after that, I was at: 29+33+29+24(+5)+40 = 155 proper + 5 knee up = 160 total. I should also note that during the last set, after 20 pushups, I sat back on my haunches and breathed for about 10 s.)
Week 4 Day 2 2010-02-17 36 Again, this one was pretty rough. I gave myself 2m between the 3rd and 4th set and 6m between the 4th and 5th set and still had to do a lot of kneeups. Total pushups were 25+29+20(+5)+13(+12)+20(+16) = 107 proper + 33 roll up = 140 total
Week 4 Day 1 2010-02-15 32 I had to give myself a bit more time resting between the last few sets and the last one in particular was pretty miserable with _long_ pauses after floor collapses between knee pushups. Total pushups were 21+25+21+20(+1)+22(+10) = 109 proper + 11 roll up = 120 total
Week 3 Day 3 2010-02-12 23 I went a little long on some of the rests between sets and I think I pushed myself a bit harder than normal to finish out the second and third sets. I did have to resort to rolling/kneeing up for the last two sets. Unfortunately, I misread my notes and I was supposed to do 28+ in the last set rather than 23+ in the last set, so I was 5 short of what i should have done. Total pushups were 22+30+20+17(+3)+15(+8 ) = 104 proper + 11 roll up = 115 total
Week 3 Day 2 2010-02-10 25 Longer rests mean more pushups and fewer rolling up? I only rolled up the last 10 of the last set and kept pretty close to the 90s rest between sets. Total pushups were 20+25+15+15+15(+10) = 90 proper + 10 roll up = 100 total
Week 3 Day 1 2010-02-08 20 The last set was pretty weak, but all in all, I did better than I expected especially since I had to shovel the walk first. I made it through the first four sets, but the fifth set I had to use my knees to help me roll up to the top of the pushup for much of the set (0/0/0/0/12). Total pushups were 14+18+14+14+8(+12) = 68 proper + 12 roll up = 80 total
Week 2 Day 3 2010-02-02 20 Today was a bit better (possibly due to the longer rests), but I still had to use my knees to get to the top of the pushup in the last (2/0/7) reps of the last three sets. Total pushups were 16+17+14+12(+2)+13(+7) = 72 proper + 9 knee up = 81 total
Week 2 Day 2 2010-01-29 17 Today was pretty rough again. By the third set, I was having to use my knees to get to the top of the pushup by the end of the set for the last (2/3/7) reps in the set. Total pushups were 14+16+12+12+17=71
Week 2 Day 1 2010-01-26 15 Today went rougher. I'm not sure if it was the physical labor I did yesterday or the shorter breaks between (but even the first set seemed harder). For the final three on the last set, I had to use knee-down pushups to get up and then use proper form to lower. 14+14+10+10+15=63
Week 1 Day 3 2010-01-24 18 It went pretty smoothly. I did have a couple of longer breaks as I was making coffee and baking muffins and was doing things during my 120 second breaks. 11+15+9+9+18=62
Week 1 Day 2 2010-01-22 17 Today went better. I also used a stopwatch to make sure I got full rest (90 seconds is a LONG time when you're waiting there) 10+12+8+8+17=55
Week 1 Day 1 2010-01-20 12 Probably shouldn't have done it the day after the first one, but I wanted to get going. I screwed up the second set, so I did 10/9/12/7/12 = 50. I'm glad I started at week 1, it was hard even getting one extra on the last set.

55 2010-05-13 Well, not too bad for just getting back into it. Looks like Week 6 Tier 2.
50 2010-05-02 I've been sick for a while, so missed most of the workout for a month. Obviously, no improvement.
50 2010-04-04 Looks like we're finally on week 6. Not feeling strong though, the break for and after Aruba slowed me down.
44 2010-03-01 Not a huge jump, but at least we're still improving. Looks like repeating week 5 on the next level.
39 2010-02-20 Still improving. I don't see how this becomes 100 in two weeks though...
27 2010-02-05 Well, not a massive improvement, but an improvement.
21 2010-01-19 Yep, I knew I had no upper body strength. This technically puts me barely into "start at week 3" but I'm going to start at week 1 instead.
